Someone who asked for the job is not yet confirmed. On the job screen you choose who will do the work, then confirm the shift.
Fill Primary, then Book
Choose your main booked workers (Primaries) from applicants. When those slots are full, confirm the shift (Book). Optional backup (Standby) is never required to Book. Under the workers, the coloured prompt shows the next step, ending in Ready to Book. A job still waiting (Pending) auto-cancels three hours before start.
Standby if Primary misses En Route
Primary must mark they are on the way (En Route) by one hour before start. That window opens two hours before. If they miss it, Standby can be activated until fifteen minutes before start. When a Primary clocks in, remaining Standby are released.

Use Post a job for what you need done at home or at work.
Fill Primary slots from applicants. Standby is optional backup.
On the job screen, tap Book to confirm the shift with a card hold for the estimate.
Watch Primary tap En Route. Activate Standby only if someone misses En Route.
A Primary clock-in releases remaining Standby.
Pay for hours worked plus fees shown in the app.

Book at least 3 hours before start
Tap Book at least three hours before start so a Pending job does not auto-cancel.

Watch the day
On the day, watch En Route and Standby activation on the coloured prompt under the workers on the job screen.
If Primary does not tap En Route in time, a Standby you already selected can step in so you are not left without help. Select Primary / Select Standby on the coloured prompt only appear while someone is still an applicant. If nobody is left to pick, you see Ready to Book — then tap Book on the job screen.
